Global Apathy

I am constantly plaged by the fact that there are so many things wrong with the world today, and nobody seems to care. Which is why I'm so glad I have found this website. I am especially disappointed that so many people, my age and younger have given up hope for positive change. I feel as though everyone around me is either ignorant or apathetic and I can't help but wonder what the future holds when too many people just don't care. They claim it is not their problem and move on with their lives selfishly disregarding the problems that humanity faces. I am also frusrated because I have this need to try and help and make things better, but I can't seem to find any big ways to do it. I have joined clubs at my school, where all anyone cares about is their reputation for colleges. And we have organized informative assemblies that no one responds to. Has anyone been successful in bringing global issues to the attention of their community and gained support to do something that helps?

The same thing saddens me. Yet, one has to look on the bright side and see that there are many people who care, and would do something to help if presented with the oppertunity; many people just dont go out and do things themselves. Its hard to be such a big dreamer, someone who wants to help so much, in an environment where other people don't, I know because I am to. What you have to do is use the resources around you, and the people around you to help make a difference. Through my experiences I have noted its all about planning, organization and a good cause that gets people going, and following you.
I am currently trying to create a group in my community to bring awareness of the UN MDGs. I want my community to understand what they are, and make way they can help: through events, donations etc. I am getting a group of people together to plan how we would do this, and when we feel we have a secure plan, we will go out and ask for support, then do it. Maybe you can try something like this :)!
Overall, no matter what you do, try not to let others bring you down. Remember that there are other people like you who want to help.
